Материал «open pore metal foam» разработан для изготовления вентиляционных панелей. В основе материала лежит структурированная октаэдровидная решетка, сделанная из кремния. На нее нанесено покрытие из магния и алюминия , который является экраном. Типовой процесс изготовления материала представлен на рисунке:

 Трёхмерная металлическая сетка обладает отличной теплопроводимостью при малом сопротивлении воздушному потоку. За счет использования алюминия сетка обладает низким объемным электрическим сопротивлением. Материал не горюч, выдерживает температуру свыше 600 градусов (низкотемпературная плазма), устойчив к парам различных смол и мелкодисперсных взвешеных включений, например, табачного дыма:

Материал применяется для использования в теплообменниках, а также для защиты от электромагнитного излучения. Он прекрасно заменяет вентиляционные решетки типа "медовых сот" (honeycomb air filter). Например, использование «open pore metal foam» в компьютерном корпусе позволяет уменьшить дельту температур внутри и снаружи корпуса на 6 градусов при соблюдении частотных характеристик излучения, соответствующих FCC Class B.

 Since about a year we continually run a computer with metal foam side wall, placed on a tiled floor.

 At tiled floors normally appears the problem of fluffy dust at heat sinks filled in addition with settled powder dust, reducing dramatically the heat sinks cooling capacity. With the intension to put the foam wall into the dishes washing machine for cleaning, we removed the wall and discovered there was not at all any fluffy dust at any place inside the computer. Just a bit negligible powder dust at single wings of the case fan. So compared with dusty heat thinks in computers there was no reduction of cooling performance by settled dust. So the metal foam performances are: Electromagnetic sealed, reduces Δt ambient / case and keeps the computer free of dust.

  Материал поставляется в листах толщинами от 6 до 20 мм и раскроем листов до 450х450 мм. На данный момент наиболее практичными для установки является размер 200*200*9 мм.
